Minimalism when you love collecting

I don’t want to give up everything I enjoy. I want to become more deliberate about what I keep and what I buy.

Define what deserves a place

Trading cards can carry memories, connect you with other people, and be enjoyable to study. A useful question is: would I choose this card again today?

Keep a personal collection separate from resale inventory. A business purchase needs a business reason; a personal purchase belongs in a hobby budget.

Three questions before buying

  1. Am I buying this to enjoy it or to sell it?
  2. What money is available for that purpose?
  3. What will I give up by spending it here?

Start with one small area

Sort a single box or drawer. Create keep, sell, and undecided sections. Give the undecided section a review date. The goal is a decision you can sustain, rather than an impressive before-and-after picture.

A rule to test

Pause before discretionary purchases and keep a short wish list. Revisit it after a few days. Notice what still matters and what was a passing urge. This is an experiment to try, not a claim about results I’ve already achieved.
